swerving across a Malibu highway. Nolte was described
as "drooling" and "droopy-eyed" by California Highway
Patrol spokesman Leland Tang.

Sentence?
Nolte was freed on $2,500 bail with a hearing scheduled
for 26 October 2002.
Nolte checked into the Silver Hill Hospital in Connecticut
- a substance abuse treatment centre - two days after
his arrest.
At
his hearing, the film star pleaded no contest to driving
under the influence of a drug he claims to have consumed
in a bodybuilding supplement and was placed on probation
with orders to remain in drug counseling for several
months. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped
a second misdemeanor drug count.
